The Havaianas brand was founded in 1962 in Brazil. They were inspired by traditional Japanese Zori sandals, which have fabric straps and a sole made of rice straw. The rice grain pattern has been featured on the sole of Havaianas slippers ever since. And where did the name Havaianas come from? According to the Portuguese translation, it means Hawaiians, which was chosen in honor of the tropical and enchanting holiday destination with endless summer experiences.
