Affenzahn, originally meaning a “Monkey Tooth”, is a German producer of playful barefoot shoes and backpacks for children. Affenzahn has always stood for high quality, safety and modern colourful design. They focus on sustainable production.

Our experience with Affenzahn

• We have five pairs at home already which means we are 100% satisfied. I like how they look, how resistant they are – the winter shoes stay dry no matter what, spring designs are breathable and if they were available in bigger sizes, not only up to size 32, I’d wear them too:-) Because it’s all about the details....

Leather & cotton sneakers

• 4 mm thin outsole, fully flexible in all directions, they bend very easily
• Anatomical shape of the toe box, suitable for a dominant toe
• Flat insole, no cushioning, firmly stitched (cannot be taken out), zero-drop
• Lightweight, soft shoes suitable for confident first walkers
• Ideal for narrow feet, not suitable for narrow ankles or low instep
• Reflective safety features can be tightened firmly around the instep
• Left/right shoe distinction by animal puzzle
• No counter, a rubber overlap slightly strengthens the heel area 

Winter shoes, footwear with waterproof lining

• Anatomical shape of the toe box, suitable for a dominant toe
• Flat insole, no cushioning, firmly stitched (cannot be taken out), zero-drop
• Waterproof lining
• Slip-resistant sole,5 mm thick plus 2 mm of tread
• Stiffer sole can be bent both in the walking direction and transverse by stronger pressure
• Ideal for narrow feet, not suitable for narrow ankles or low instep
• We do not recommend these for the first steps due to stiffer outsole
• Left/right shoe distinction by animal puzzle
• No counter, a rubber overlap slightly strengthens the heel area 

Interesting facts

As opposed to a ready-to-wear production, in Affenzahn, they produce their barefoot shoes with 20% less water, 50% less energy and 60% less emissions. Sustainable production and maximum care during the whole production process result in a product of the highest quality.

AFFENZAH BACKPACKS

Affenzahn started as a producer of fun and functional backpacks for children. These backpacks are sustainable, featuring different animal characters, playful details, and functions. 50% of the backpack fabric is made of recycled PET bottles to protect our environment, especially the seas.

Each backpack is designed very carefully to ensure natural and healthy body growth. Each backpack has soft adjustable cushioned shoulder straps and chest straps, zipper closure and reflective features. The bigger version is not just a multi-purpose suitcase, it is multi-playful, too: paws can be positioned differently or even hold a bottle and encourage your child’s imagination and communication skills. A unique pull-out tongue can reveal the child’s name – you just need to pull at it.
