How does the functional clothing work?

Functional clothing works on the principle of several layers:

• Lower (transport) layer - adheres to the body (underwear, T-shirt, leggings) and carries sweat away to the next layer
• Middle (insulating) layer - an interlayer (sweatshirt) that wicks moisture away from the body, but keeps the warmth inside
• Outer (protective) layer - exposed to the environment (jacket, trousers), excess heat and sweat is removed outside, but at the same time prevents moisture, cold and wind from penetrating inside, should resist mechanical damage

It is not always necessary to wear all layers, the clothing chosen should reflect the current weather and anticipated physical activity so as to avoid either hypothermia or excessive sweating from overheating.
